There are different types of implants used in dentistry, as different cases call for different types of restoration. Patients may need more than one tooth in a row replaced, while others require a full set. This is why our dental implant dentist can perform many types of procedures to restore your smile to its full potential.
Single tooth implants — Used to replace just one tooth, this requires the use of a temporary implant while the base fuses to the jawbone over the course of several months or weeks, before the permanent implant is placed.
Multiple tooth replacement — When several teeth in a row are missing, a dental bridge is used. The implants are attached to crowns on either side, which are placed on top of the healthy adjacent teeth. This allows the implants to receive extra support.
Full arch replacement — this is necessary when most or all of the teeth on the top or bottom of your mouth are missing. Any left intact will be extracted to allow for full arch implants. Typically, five implants are placed evenly into the jaw, and temporaries are placed until the healing process is over. At this point, several bridges are placed to complete the restoration.
