Healthy Diet for Teeth

Perhaps the most important nutrient to your teeth is calcium. Milk, cheese, and yogurt are all great sources of calcium, and they all assist in keeping your teeth and bones strong even after you have reached adulthood.

Vitamin D, which can also be found in dairy products, helps you bones absorb calcium. Vitamin D can be found in most milks and orange juices, and your body produces Vitamin D naturally when exposed to sunlight. Vitamin C has a wealth of health benefits including keeping your gums nice and healthy. If you find that your gums bleed after brushing, it may be a sign that you need more Vitamin C in your diet.

In addition to eating a variety of mineral-enriched foods, our dentist recommends staying away from foods that can harm your teeth like foods that contain glucose, sucrose, and corn syrup. These all feed the bacteria in your mouth and can lead to the development of plaque and tartar. So maintain a healthy diet, and your whole body will thank you for it.
